Marvin John Wahl

Marvin John "Chub" Wahl , age 100 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio.  
  
He was born on March 6, 1921 to Harry and Velma (Carpenter) Wahl in Defiance, Ohio. Marvin was a 1940 graduate of Defiance High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On October 25, 1945 he married Verma (Bumann) Wahl, who preceded him in death on January 11, 2002. 

Marvin was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He worked at Dinner Bell Foods for over 33 years until his retirement in 1983. He was also a member of American Legion #117, Dinner Bell Teamsters Union, and was a life member of Eagles #372. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, gardening, polka music, playing the violin, and he remained an avid fan of the Defiance Bulldogs.
  
Marvin will be sadly missed by his children, Karen Wahl of Defiance, Joanne Wahl of San Diego, CA, and John (Wendy) Wahl of Duluth, GA, 11 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  
  
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Wahl, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Wahl.
  
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
