Marilyn Alyce Buchman (Patterson) passed away peacefully at Glenn Park on May 14, at the age of 93 years. Marilyn married Randall Buchman on August 16, 1952. Marilyn and Randall had three children, daughter, Deborah Coffman and husband Tom, eldest son Randall Buchman II and wife Sonia, and youngest son Kevin Buchman. Her grandchildren are Jonathon and Benjamin Coffman, children of Debby and Tom, Melissa Buchman-Hamilton and Grant Buchman, children of Randy and Sonia, and Natalie and Nathan Buchman, children of Kevin.
Marilyn was born in Akron, Ohio on March 21, 1930. She grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where she graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1948 and went on to earn a BA in Health and Physical Education from Heidelberg College in 1952. This is where she met Randall during her Freshman year in college.
Marilyn taught physical education at Bexley High School, Ohio, eventually teaching Health for Defiance City Schools. Marilyn was an active member in her church, St John United Church of Christ, where she also served on consistory. She was also involved with numerous Defiance College and City of Defiance organizations such as AAUW, DAR, sorority advisor, Travelers Club, and Current Events.
A private service will be held with immediate family in the future. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
