Lucille E. Schaffer, 93, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 in her residence at Glenn Park, Defiance, OH.
She was born on March 22, 1926 to Orville and Elsie (Hellemn) Keezer in Paulding Co., OH. On August 19, 1944 she married Louis D. Schaffer, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1978.
She was a 1944 Graduate of Sherwood High School. Lucille was a homemaker and previously worked for Ken's Furniture in Bryan OH. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, where she was involved with the Evangelism Committee, Scouting Program, Quilting Ladies, Ladies Aide, and PTA. Lucille also was a Charter Member of Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont IN, and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Clermont FL. Lucille loved her over 20 years of summers on Clear Lake where she and her husband owned rental properties, and eventually built a new home in 1976. She also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida for over 20 years. Lucille was an excellent pie baker, and loved working out in her flower gardens right up to her moving into Glenn Park Assisted Living Center in 2019. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. .
Lucille is survived by her 3 sons, Robert (Faye) Schaffer of Toledo, OH, Alan (Robin) Schaffer of Fort Wayne, IN, and Gale (Gwen) Schaffer of Nappanee, IN, 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, a brother, Melvin (Carol) Keezer of Defiance, OH, and a sister, Betty (Murphy) Buell of Pinesville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis D. Schaffer, 2 brothers, Elmer and Robert Keezer, and a sister, Amy Long.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio, and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, 11:00 am in St John Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
