Lorraine C. Strickland

Lorraine C. Strickland, age 87 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
She was born on January 26, 1936 to the late Alva and Hazel (Miller) Rawlins in South Webster, Ohio. On October 18, 1952 she married Herbert J. Strickland, who preceded her in death on September 6, 1999.

Lorraine was a faithful member of Restoration Tabernacle and was active in the Women's Auxiliary. She worked at Campbell's Soup Company in Napoleon, Ohio.  After devoting several years of raising her children, she returned to work as a cook at Defiance College Cafeteria. Lorraine was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest love was her family.
  
Lorraine will be sadly missed by her son, Herbert E. (Janet) Strickland of Bryan, OH, her daughter, Deb (Danny) Woods of Ney, OH, and seven grandchildren; Rachel (Rob) Cobb, Randal Rogers, H.G. (Chaley) Strickland, Jennifer (Brian) Groce, Venessa Rogers, Danny Woods Jr. and Joyce Ghee. She also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, her brothers, Lee (Nancy) Rawlins, Ronnie (Barb) Rawlins, and Marvin Rawlins, all of South Webster, OH, her sisters, Joy Ferrell of Wheelersburg, OH, Jean Eldridge, and Lola (Troy) Ferrell, all of South Webster, OH. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jesse Strickland, brothers Herman and Billy Rawlins, and her sisters, Annabelle Lands and Peggy Rawlins.
  
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Restoration Tabernacle in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the church, with Rev. Janet Strickland officiating. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow the service at Evansport Cemetery.
