Lois Marie Kohout, age 74 of Defiance, passed away Wednesday February 12th 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born March 10th, 1950 in La Crosse Wisconsin to James and Florence Devine. On July 11th 1989 she married the love of her life Roger Kohout who preceded her in death.
She was a realtor for 30 years, a bartender at the Elks Lodge, a bus driver for Good Samaritan school, a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Eagles and Amvets. It is an understatement to say Lois lived life to the fullest. Always on the go, taking gambling trips with her daughter and casino partner in crime Melodie, shopping, meeting up with some of her millions of friends or simply entertaining by serving up margaritas at her barzeebo. She would say on occasion that she had too many friends because her life and social calendar were so full. She loved her family more than anything and cherished the time spent with them. She was an exceptional mother who constantly reminded us of how much we were loved. She did anything and everything for her girls, without limits, and we were so fortunate to have had her in our lives. She will be forever missed.
She is survived by her two daughters Melodie Yarder of Defiance and Valerie Yarder of Holland. She is also survived by her brother Gary (Jiggs) and his spouse Cheryl Devine of Defiance.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16th, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schaffer Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, February 17th at Schaffer Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Father John Stites officiating. A private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
