Leon Benjamin Jones

Leon B. Jones, 87, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 surrounded by his family at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
  
He was born in 1937 to Clyde and Ada (Fluckiger) Jones in his grandparent's home in Berne, Indiana. He grew up on a farm near Willshire, Ohio. Leon graduated from Willshire High School in 1955, Taylor University in 1961and Indiana University in 1962. In 1961 he married Joyce A. Feasby.

Leon was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed family history in general and Defiance history. Leon enjoyed collecting antiques and Defiance memorabilia. He  enjoyed life and was looking forward to his next life. 
  
Leon and Joyce have a son Brad of Defiance, daughter Lori (Alan) Phlipot of Paulding, and two grandsons, Brandon (Brooke) Plummer and Ethan (Delainey) Plummer. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Brantlee, Bristol, Briggs, McCoy and Atkins Plummer, and many nieces and nephews that he has enjoyed over the years. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 12th at the funeral home, with Pastor Nico Kinner officiating. Leon will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
