Lawrence J. Livolsi, a resident of Defiance for the past 20 years, passed away on December 4, 2024. Mr. Livolsi was originally from Queens, New York, where he lived for 51 years.
Mr. Livolsi came from a musical family dating back generations. At the age of 4, Mr. Livolsi began seriously studying the piano and by the age of 12 added drums and percussion to his desired instruments to master. He graduated from the High School of Performing Arts and received a Bachelor of Music degree from Queens College in New York City. Mr. Livolsi pursued music playing in popular, jazz and rock bands in the New York area throughout his career. Upon moving to Defiance, Mr. Livolsi had the pleasure of performing many Broadway shows as well as in the Jazz Festival in Defiance. The last 10 years of Mr. Livolsi’s life introduced him to a musical partnership with pianist, Ned Clark of the Defiance area, which ultimately became his most rewarding musical collaboration. In addition to performing, Mr. Livolsi felt his greatest achievements were the numerous compositions and songs he wrote over the years.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Katherine Livolsi-Landau, cousins, Scott and Tim Schwarz, his 2 Labrador Retrievers who sustained him in life, as well as many friends. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM followed by a Time of Remembrance at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Schaffer Funeral Home, 529 Jefferson Avenue in Defiance, Ohio.
