Larry L. Szabo

Larry L. Szabo, age 86 of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio.

He was born in Defiance, Ohio on September 6, 1939 to the late Edward and Marvelle Szabo. Larry was a 1957 graduate of Defiance High School. After high school he went to work at Defiance Precision Products for 50 years until his retirement. On June 9, 1961 he married the love of his life Edith Rittenhouse, who preceded him in death on October 20, 2015. Larry was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years as a radio operator in Germany. Larry had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed many years of playing bass in the Country Ramblers Band. He loved being outside and taking walks. 

Larry is survived by his daughter Kimberly (Ted) Draghiceanu, and his grandson, Christopher Greiner, all of Defiance, brother Jack Szabo of Fort Wayne, IN, and three sisters, Cindy Miller and Janet Shock of Defiance, and Marlene Clapp of Jacksonville, FL. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Edith Szabo, son Gregory Szabo, grandson Gregory Lee, and brother Ray Szabo.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Tracy officiating. Larry will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.
