Larry Simpson

Larry Simpson, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, after fighting multiple health issues.

Larry was born in Harlan, Kentucky on September 5, 1952 to Lawrence and Etta Simpson. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, OH, Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

It was at Cumberland College that he met his wife Becky Stearns from Defiance, OH. They married on March 24, 1977 and have been blessed with 48 years together through thick and thin. They were not able to have children. Larry loved to play chess and read, his favorite author being Stephen King.

Surviving are his wife Becky, his sister Peggy (Bill) Summers, two brothers Ron (Patti) Simpson and Tim (Jami) Simpson, seven nieces and nephews, and Cliff and John Miles, best friends since childhood.

Also surviving are his mother-in-law Geneva Stearns, brothers-in-law Robert Stearns and Randy Stearns, sisters-in-law Rosemary (Ed) Ratajczak and Rita (Reg) Gehrke, and eight nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Lawrence and Etta Simpson, sister Penny Simpson, brother Jim Simpson, brother-in-law Raymond Stearns, and sister-in-law Connie Stearns.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 am Monroe Cemetery in Continental, Ohio.
