Larry G. Max, 87, formerly of Defiance, passed away September 12th in Loveland, Ohio.
Larry was born March 12, 1936 in Defiance to the late Harold and Evelyn Max. In 1961 he married Karen White. They enjoyed 61 years and many great memories together.
After graduating from the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy, Larry had a long career serving the Defiance community as a pharmacist, eventually becoming the owner of Adams Pharmacy at the Defiance Clinic. He truly enjoyed helping and building relationships with patients.
Larry also loved spending time with family and friends and was an avid golfer and member of Kettenring Country Club. He was a proud supporter of Defiance College and a long-time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Not far behind his faith, love of family and dedication to his career, was his love for The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
During the 1970's Larry was occasionally on the sidelines during football games at The Shoe taking photos for The Crescent-News. He would proudly tell anyone who listened about the time Woody Hayes came to his home one evening after speaking at Defiance College. He carried his love of the Buckeyes with him always.
In addition to his wife Karen, Larry is survived by his sons, Stephen (Darla) Max of Loveland, Ohio and Joel Max of Dublin, Ohio, and six grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Delainey, Christopher, Griffin, Holland and AJ. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, and infant son Michael.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 22nd, followed by a reception at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Saint Paul's United Methodist Church of Defiance.
