Larry Breece Obituary

Larry Edward Breece, age 82 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at his home in Defiance.

He was born in Hamler, Ohio on September 4, 1943 to the late Frederick and Emilie (Moehrmann) Breece. He was baptized September 21, 1943 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hamler and continued his journey of faith with his confirmation on April 14, 1957. On July 28, 1979 he married Madonna Doody, who preceded him in death on May 29, 2022.

Larry worked at Johns Manville, and retired from General Motors in 1996. When he was younger, he drove a milk truck route and had a true passion for working the family farm. Larry took pride in his lawn and property. He loved dogs, and enjoyed racing, fishing, golfing, playing guitar, and was able to fix or build anything. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.

Larry is survived by his loving children, Laura Friedrich, Joseph (Sandy) Wink, Donna (Gary) Badenhop, James (Sean Peters) Wink, Larry (Rebecca) Breece, II, and Christian (Charlene) Breece. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren; Kristen, Noah, Hannah, Andreas, Aidan, Daniel, David, Sarah, Rachel and Lana, five great-grandchildren, his brothers Frederick Breece Jr. and Donald Breece Sr., and sister, Louise Kern.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Tonya Friedrich, six brothers; Harold, Ernest, Melvin (Florence), Robert (Maize) Ronald (Roberta) and Willy Breece, three sisters; Martha (Dewey) Parker, Loretta (Rich) Long and Jeanette (Weldon) Behrman, brother-in-law, Joe Kern, and sisters-in-law, Thelma Breece and Mary Jane Breece.
