Kathleen V. (Greenler) Engel

Kathleen V. Engel, born July 4, 1944, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by family at CHP Hospice Care in Defiance, Ohio.
 
She is survived by her sister Cindy (Terry) Lindsay, brothers Larry (Sue) Greenler and Mike (Jane) Greenler, her daughters Tonya (Don) Stetz and Tracy (Adrian) Baeza, and her grandsons Derek Long and Mitchell (Desare) Long. Along with Adrian’s son Kaleb and daughter Kalena, and Don’s son Nik.

Preceding her in death is her husband Gerald “Jerry” Engel, parents Lawrence Greenler and Irene Boyd, and brother Jim Greenler. 

Kathleen grew up in Ayersville, Ohio and graduated from the local high school. She married Jerry on June 27, 1964 and lived in Defiance since then. They raised their daughters and later played an important role in their grandsons lives. Kathleen dedicated her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was known as a loving teacher of the Bible, willing to talk to everyone she could about the God she worshiped. 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 24864 Watson Road in Defiance.
