Joyce A. Westhoven

Joyce A. Westhoven, age 75 of Toledo, formerly of Defiance, peacefully passed surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 5, 2022.   

She was born on January 27, 1947 to the late Wilber and Helen (Zipfel) Steinbrener in Defiance, Ohio. On October 5, 1968 she married Carl Westhoven, who survives.  
  
Joyce was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, and AmVets Post #1991. She enjoyed flowers, going for walks, and singing karaoke at the AmVets. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and she treasured her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
  
Joyce will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 53 years, Carl Westhoven of Toledo, her son, Eric (Amanda Fankhauser) Westhoven of Toledo, and her daughter, Sara Schindler of Defiance. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren that were so dear to her heart; Evelyn, Gabrielle, Andrew, Madeline, Isaac, Mikala and Ally, and three sisters; Janice (Gil) Normandin of Trenton, MI, Jill (John) Mack of Defiance, and Joan (Karl) Sill of Sylvania, OH. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber and Helen Steinbrener. 
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.) in Defiance.     
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the funeral home, with Sandy Herman officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
