Josephine M. "Jo" Curl-Williamson, age 100 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at her home in Defiance.
Josephine was born on April 9, 1922 in Lima, Ohio to the late Joseph and Alma (Martin) Long. In 1939 she married Harold D. Curl who was listed as missing in action during WWII and declared deceased on September 7, 1945. In 1957 she married George D. Williamson who preceded her in death in 2008.
Josephine worked at the Lima Tank Depot, Westinghouse, and surrounding hospitals over the years.
Josephine is survived by two sons, Dan Curl and David Williamson of Defiance, and her daughter-in-law Ruth Curl of Defiance. Among her thirteen grandchildren, she leaves behind grandchildren Rory Curl of Bryan, OH, Renee Bowling of Defiance, Shelly Irwin of Sebastian, Florida, and Dee Hall of Napoleon, OH, 20 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Williamson, her son, John L. Curl, daughter, Kelly Jones, great-great-grandson Deven Dietrich, her brother, James Long and sisters Dorothy Middlebrook and Deloris, all of Lima, Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral South, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
