Joseph Paul Simonis

Joseph Paul Simonis, age 74 of Defiance, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at his residence in Defiance, Ohio.  
  
He was born on April 18, 1951 to the late Francis and Margaret (Beaubien) Simonis. Joe was a 1970 graduate of Defiance High School. He worked at Chief Supermarket for 44 years and was a member of the NRA and the Fish and Game Club. In his spare time he collected guns, cameras, and Beatles albums. He also enjoyed photography and operating his short wave radio.
  
Joe is survived by his children, Jennifer (Michael) Kolb and Nicholas Simonis, both of Defiance, Angela Simonis of Paulding, OH, and David Simonis of Sherwood, OH, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Annette (Erwin) Schroeder, Patricia (Michael) VanDemark, Jerome Simonis, Gregory Simonis, and Mark (Amy) Simonis, all of Defiance, OH, and sister-in-law, Deb Simonis also of Defiance, Ohio. 
  
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter John Simonis, Stephen Simonis and Peter Anthony Simonis, and his grandson, Nolan Andricks.
  
All services for Joe will be private. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
