John P. Taquino

John P. Taquino, age 78 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at home surrounded by his loved ones.   

He was born on June 6, 1946 to the late Claude and Bernice (Kirvin) Taquino in Schenectady, New York. John was a 1965 graduate of Defiance High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. On November 26, 1971 he married Linda Lloyd who survives. 

John was a member of Free Christian Church in Continental, Ohio. He worked for several years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed playing his guitar and song writing, especially Christian songs. John loved to read and lovingly pick on his wife Linda. He was an awesome husband and father and was loved by so many friends who will miss him dearly. 

John is survived by his loving wife Linda, and his children; Tracy Whetstone, Scott (Rhonda) Burris, Rod Taquino, Michael (Christina) Taquino, and Tammy Taquino. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Jeff Taquino. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Taquino. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Free Christian Church. A private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
