John Charles Richardson Sr., age 71 of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born in Paulding, Ohio to Eugene and Pearl Richardson on August 12, 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of Continental High School. He worked in construction and as a truck driver, machine operator for Phillips ECG, and he did maintenance. He served in the U.S. Navy for eleven years.
John loved NASCAR, and was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. He loved traveling and being outdoors when he was driving trucks for TVM. He was definitely a workaholic. John loved his five children and was so proud of them. He also loved his cat Tarzan.
John is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Pearl Richardson, his sister Karen Richardson, his special friend Sandra Schindler, and his dog Millie.
Surviving are his daughters, Ava Champagne and fiancé Nick Westerterp of Mauriceville, TX, and Miranda Rougeou and husband Clayton of Westlake, LA, his sons, John C. Richardson Jr. and wife Melissa of Nederland, TX, James Richardson and wife Jen of Orange, TX, and Joseph Richardson and wife Heidi of Prairieville, LA. He also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be no visitation or services. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
