Johanna A (Meier) Keesbury

Johanna A. Keesbury, 86, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio.  
  
She was born on March 1, 1935 in Essen, Germany to Johanna (Siemoneit) and Peter Paul Meier. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1957 with her first husband, Gunter and her son, Rolf. She became a U.S. citizen on March 17, 1978. 

On March 28, 1970 she married Raymond Keesbury, who preceded her in death in 2002. Johanna retired from GM Powertrain in 1993 and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance.

Johanna is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Jonny and Nancy Eickenberg of Defiance, her step-grandson, Brian (Diana) Zipfel of Defiance, and a step-great-granddaughter Hannah Zipfel of Muncy, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Rolf Eickenberg, and her brother Manfred Meier.
  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street). A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will take place at Sherwood Cemetery.
