Joe D. Ramon

Joe D. Ramon, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.   
  
He was born on October 29, 1945 to Reynaldo and Jesusa (Dominquez) Ramon in Austin, Texas. Joe proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. On  July 12, 1984 he married Mary (Garcia) Ramon, who survives. Joe worked for 30 years at Johns Manville, Campbell's Soup Company, and at Silgan in Napoleon until his retirement in 2020. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. Joe was a very caring and giving person and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 
   
Joe is survived by his loving wife Mary of Defiance, and six sons, Steve (Holly) Ramon of Indianapolis, IN, Joseph Ramon of Stryker, OH, Adam Ramon of Defiance, Joaquin Ramon of Bryan, OH, Ruben Ramon of Defiance, and Daniel Ramon of Defiance. He also leaves 16 grandchildren, and his brother, Joaquin (Janie) Ramon of Defiance. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Reynaldo Ramon Jr. and Jesse Ramon, and his sisters, Julia Trevino, Theresa Celestino, Ramona Urbina and Guadalupe Robles.
  
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at Riverside Cemetery, with Pastor Vincent Cantu officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by VFW #3360.
