Joaquin "Jack" Ramon

Joaquin "Quino" Ramon, age 85 of Defiance, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2024.  
  
He was born in McNeil, Texas on December 5, 1938 to Reynaldo Ramon and Jesusa (Dominquez) Ramon. On December 28, 1959 he married Jannie Smiddy in Tennessee and resided in Defiance. He worked at General Motors for over 42 years until his retirement in 1998. Joaquin enjoyed golfing and metal detecting, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
 
He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Jannie Ramon, his son, Tony (Laura) Ramon and daughter Tamara Ramon, his grandchildren that he loved and cherished, William T. Lasley, Brittney (Stacy) Duncan, Josh Ramon, Amanda Ramon, Chelsey (Greg) Matson, Alaina (Cody) Mox, Tyler Ramon, Lee Martinez III, Anthony Martinez and Christian Martinez. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Reynaldo (Anna) Ramon, Jesse (Juanita) Ramon, Joe (Mary) Ramon, Theresa (Carlos) Celestino, Lupe (Manuel) Robles, Julia (Frank) Trevino, and Ramona (Joe) Urbina. 

We would like for our father to be remembered as the kind, loving father that lived his life truly for his family. His jokes and making people laugh brought him joy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Vicente Cantu officiating. Joaquin will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
