Jennifer Ann Bustamante, 55, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born on May 18, 1970 to Bobby and Clara (Caperton) Sloan in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jennifer worked as a candy cook for Spangler Candy Company. On November 17, 2012, she married Alex Bustamante Sr. who survives.
Jennifer was an effervescent woman who lit up every room she walked into. She had the gift of gab and was always able to make friends anywhere she went. She was witty, hilarious, strong, and loving. She was willing to be a mom to anyone who needed one- with many of her children’s friends calling her mom and her collecting many work kids throughout her career. If you were lucky enough to know Jennifer, you were lucky enough to be fed by her too. She never saw a recipe she couldn’t master and make her own. Her tamales and cookies were always looked forward to during Christmas time, which she lovingly served to family and friends. Besides her love for the kitchen, she was a known bookworm and loved patronizing the performing arts. Most of all Jennifer was a helper, often acting selflessly by putting others before herself. With her last act being the gift of life via organ donation. Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend- all titles which she took very seriously. Her loss is felt deeply by her family and friends, whose hearts are forever changed by the opportunity to love and be loved by her.
Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Alex; her mother, Clara Sloan; her children, Devin (Liz Foust) Osborne of Defiance, Jared (Kaitlyn Campbell) Osborne of Bryan, Connor Osborne of Defiance, Grace (Ruben) Torres of Defiance; Alex Bustamante, Jr. of Napoleon, Annalicia (Franciso Hernandez) Bustamante of Defiance and Ayden Bustamante of Bryan. Also surviving to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Trevor Osborne, Ian Hinschlager, Levi Osborne, Mazie Osborne, Zeke Osborne, Carson Osborne, Avan Torres, and Lavender Torres. She leaves behind her siblings as well, Valerie (Doug) Balcombe, Barry (Theresa) Sloan, Tim (Shelly) Sloan, Rebecca (Ken) McAtee, and Beth (Paul) Ward.
She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Tanner Osborne.
