Jeffrey E. "Jeff" Stone

Jeffrey E. "Jeff" Stone, age 76 of Defiance, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

He was born in Defiance, Ohio on May 7, 1949 to Robert and Ruth (Arnold) Stone. Jeff was a 1967 graduate of Defiance High School and attended The Ohio State University. He proudly served our country in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. On April 10, 1976 he married Nancy Feeney who survives.

Jeff was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He worked as a collections supervisor and superintendent for the City of Defiance Water Pollution Control for 41 years until his retirement in 2015. He was also a member of VFW #3360, Elks Lodge #147, and Eagles #372. He proudly played with the Defiance Community Band and Bud Widmer Rube Band. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting. Jeff was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Defiance Bulldogs, and Cincinnati Reds. Jeff was a dedicated husband and father who loved being with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife Nancy Stone of Defiance, his sons, Jonathan Stone of Defiance and Christopher Stone of Toledo, OH, his brother Dr. James (Jackie) Stone of Columbus, OH, sister Wendy (Jerry) Otte of Defiance, sisters-in-law Barb Hoover of Defiance and Mary Jean (Ken) Meyer of Decatur, IN, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Indy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert V. Stone, sister-in-law Carolyn Stone, brother-in-law Scott Hoover, and nephew Dr. Mickey Stone.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 23rd at the funeral home with Pastor John Schlicher officiating. Jeff will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
