Jeannette D. Burnett

Jeannette D. Burnett, age 83 of Delphos, Ohio, formerly of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at St. Rita's Mercy Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.  
  
She was born in Lima, Ohio on June 10, 1941 to Floyd and Mary (Parks) Purdy. On May 10, 1960 she married James Burnett who preceded her in death in 1999. 
  
Jeannette was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She worked for over 15 years in the cafeteria at Defiance City Schools and loved being around all the children. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and homemaker. She treasured her time spent as a caregiver for her son Jeff. She was very competitive and loved playing Bingo and cards with her friends in the "Ladies Card Club" for almost 60 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and many good friends. 
  
Jeannette is survived by her children, Theresa Burnett of Moorestown, NJ, and Christopher Burnett of Defiance. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Laura Guggenhein of Avon Lake, OH, Jerod (Angie) Burnett of Tipp City, OH, Logan Brill of Boston, MA, Michael Brill of Orlando, FL, and Piper Burnett of Cincinnati, OH, one great-grandson, Rivers Davis of Avon Lake, OH, her brother, Charles (Brenda) Purdy of St. Mary's, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
  
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Jeffery Burnett, sister Norma Ladd, and brothers Robert, William and Paul Purdy.
  
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
