Jean M. (Nagel) Zimmerman

Jean Marie (Nagel) Zimmerman, age 84 of Defiance, passed away Friday March 14, 2025 at her home. 
  
She was born on August 20, 1940 to the late Edward and Mae (Rowe) Nagel in Defiance, Ohio. She was a 1958 graduate of Jewell High School. On October 20, 1962 she married Edward Zimmerman who preceded her in death in 2003.   
  
Jean was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Defiance Eagles and South Richland Twp. Fire Department Auxiliary. Jean was an advisor for the 4H Clever Clovers for many years and worked at the Jewell Grain Elevator. She treasured her time spent at home with her children. She loved to play cards at the AmVets and her women's card club for over 50 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, crafting, crocheting, and collecting owls. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and good friends.
  
Jean is survived by her children, Doug (Deanna) Zimmerman and Deb (Dan) Potter, grandchildren, Dennis Clemens, Abygail (Gage) Odom, Kaylee   Schlegel (Jordan), James "JD" Zimmerman (Kenzie), Dayna (Devan) Tilly and Dylan (Kayla) Potter, great-grandchildren, Evelynn and Collin Odom and Madilyn Schlegel, brothers-in-law, Lawrence F. Zimmerman and Robert Zimmerman, and sister-in-law, Lois Siler.
  
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Raymond, John, and Paul Nagel and her sister Janice Brown.
  
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 21st at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. Jason D'Souza and Fr. John Stites officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in Riverview Memory Gardens.
