Janice Verna Lloyd

Janice Verna Lloyd, age 84 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at The Laurels of Defiance.   
  
She was born on December 28, 1938 to the late Carl and Edna (Kolbe) Thielman in Defiance, Ohio. Janice was a 1957 graduate of Jewell High School. On April 6, 1958 she married Gary C. Lloyd, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2007.
  
Janice was a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and was the church organist for over 47 years, starting at the age of 13. She worked at Defiance Lutheran Social Services and was the Director of the Homemaker Program for 20 years until her retirement in 1998. Janice was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.
  
Janice is survived by her children; David (Renell) Lloyd and Denver (Jodi) Lloyd , all of Defiance, and Beth Ann (Douglas) Crossman of Burlington, Ontario. She also leaves behind five grandsons and five great-grandchildren.    
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gary, her sisters, Carol Ann Davis and Joann Schappert, and brothers, Richard "Dickie" Thielman in infancy, and Carl Thielman.
  
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with Deacon Mandy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
