James Joseph Mehring

James J. Mehring, age 54 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.

He was born in Defiance, Ohio on July 30, 1970 to the late Victor and Mary (Schmunk) Mehring. James was a 1988 graduate of Defiance High School. On July 1, 1995 he married LeeAnn Blair, who survives.

James was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was a very talented and well-known tattoo artist and owned his own business "In The Flesh" for over 31 years. He loved artwork, tinkering with things, and above all spending time with his children. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.

James is survived by his loving wife LeeAnn Mehring of Defiance, and his children, Kierstyn, Lelah, Kaden, Alex and Arlyn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Mehring.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March11, 2025 from 1:00 pm-3:30 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Celebration of life service will follow at 3:30 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating.
