James "Jim" Edward Krall, age 83 of Defiance, Ohio passed away July 8, 2022 with family around him at CHP Hospice Center of Defiance after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 19, 1938 to Edward and Joan (Faja) Krall. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1957 and joined the Army Reserves where he trained to be a medic. He then started his career with National Cash Register (NCR) in Toledo and was soon transferred to Defiance. He was a service technician for over 40 years.
Jim always had a love for Lake Erie. He built his first boat at age 14 and later loved taking his family out on the lake, especially fishing. The family enjoyed many adventures on “Puff”, a retired school bus Jim rebuilt into a full motor home. He was also a Boy Scout leader for Troop 76 and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He was a jack of all trades. Jim and Barb built a farm together on a soybean field, as he’d promised her he would. Here they raised hogs, horses, swans and many other pets as well as enjoyed gardening. He loved tinkering around and living there up to his last days, spending time with family and pets, ready to share a story and remind others God is in charge.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 46 years, Barb (Bair) Krall, children Joe (Sheryl) Krall, Christopher Krall, Judy James, Steve (Theresa) Krall, Jeff (Lori) Krall, Michelle (Shane) Spittler, and Susan (Isaac) Villa, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as his sister Barb (Robert) Zarnoch and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Krall, sister-in-law Sue Krall, sister Christine Ostrowski, and grandson Logan Krall.
There will be a Mass of remembrance for Jim at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Defiance on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11 am. Father Dave Cirata will be the presider. There will be a meal at the parish ministry center directly following service. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
