James Huebner Obituary

James "Jimmy" D. Huebner went to Heaven peacefully surrounded by family the morning of February 16th, 2022.
He was born August 12, 1941, in Paulding to the late William and Sylvia (Hallard) Huebner. He married Rita Singer June 26, 1965, who proceeded him in death on December 2, 2021.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Blue Creek High School in Haviland, Ohio. He retired after working 33 years and 7 months at General Motors in Defiance. Jim was a proud union member of UAW Local 211. Before GM he worked at Dinner Bell, SK Wayne and Ohio Art to name a few. He worked hard to provide the best life for his family.
Jim was a man who loved life. He was at his happiest when surrounded by his family. His face lit up when his children, grandchildren or great-grandson were around. He had a full life and had many wonderful adventures. Jim enjoyed traveling; he would spend hours planning a trip. If you asked him about a trip he took 40 years ago, he could tell you the route he drove and what he did. His memory was incredible. He traveled all over the world; Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Mexico and all around the US. He loved every minute of it. He loved golf and enjoyed horseshoes and bowling. He once bowled a near perfect game of 299. He was also a HUGE Ohio State fan and followed Fairview sports faithfully.  He rarely missed one of his family's sporting events. His encouragement and support for his family let them know he was always on their side. He was creative and enjoyed building things. He could fix just about anything and engineer a solution to any problem.  He took up woodcarving after retirement and his work was absolutely amazing. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner. He was fascinated by so many things. He would amaze everyone by the depth of his knowledge and the random facts he could pull out during a conversation.
He is survived by daughters Joann Reed of Sherwood, Ohio; Barb (Brenda) Huebner of Columbus, Ohio; Anita (Nathan) Simonis of Alexandria, Ohio, one son, David Huebner of Tampa, Florida and one sister, Ruby Wirth of Sherwood. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his four grandchildren: Cpl Nicholas (Marissa) Reed, Karlee Reed, Evan and Willa Simonis; and his great-grandson, Reagan Reed plus many nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by his exchange students Ivanildo (Fernanda) Holanda of Brazil, Doris (Norbert) Ernst of Germany, Heike Menhorn of Germany, Sib (Felix) Schlatter of Switzerland, and Nacho Otero Valeta of Spain to name a few.
Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Kassandra Raymer, his sisters: Ruth Keller, Shirley Vance, Marilyn Boes, and Jean Ricker; brothers: Don, Robert, Leo, Floyd, infant Larry and Joseph.
