Jackie M. Travis, 84, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio.
She was born on April 24, 1941 to Major and Doris (Nelms) Burke in Williamson, WV. On February 23, 1959 she married Paul Travis Sr, who survives.
Jackie had belonged to Napoleon Eagles and was an associate member of the Napoleon VFW. She was a very generous person who was always willing to help anyone in any way she could, and always had an aura about her as she would enter into a room. Jackie operated The Happening Bar in rural Defiance before owning and operating The Brewery in Napoleon, and Big 6 Truck Stop near Archbold.
Jackie is survived by her loving spouse of 67 years, Paul Travis Sr., her seven children; Arlene (Keith) Cordes, Paul (Deandra) Travis Jr., Bill (Debbie) Travis, Debbie (Greg) Weddelman, Herbert Travis, Michelle (Terry) Ames, and Lori Travis, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her siblings; Ann (Walt) Snyder, Dallas "Buddy" Taylor, Pearl (Dallas) Carroll, Brenda (Richard) Nafziger, Thomas (Paula) Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, and Johnny Taylor.
Jackie was preceded in death by parents, Major and Doris Burke, and siblings Lilly Ball, Leeta Rose, and Jimmie Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel, 1753 S. Clinton St, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Minister David Wachtman officiating. Burial will take place in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
