Holly Marie Hesselschwardt, age 45 of Defiance, Ohio, beloved daughter of John and Marjorie Hesselschwardt, has fought the good fight, kept the faith, and passed from this earth to walk with our Heavenly Father on January 22, 2025.
Holly was well-known for her inspiring faith despite many challenges throughout her life, for her love of music and traveling, and especially for her devotion to her many friends, family and particularly her 11 nieces and nephews and their children. Holly had a unique wit, charm, and faith that warmed hearts, opened doors, and moved mountains. Holly's life work was in helping others through their tough moments. She earned her Masters Degree from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Among her many roles, Holly worked as a social worker, a theology teacher, a campus minister, a parish youth director, and a retreat leader. She had a special place in her heart for working with children and young adults.
Holly is preceded in death by her brother Peter J. Hesselschwardt and her mother Marjorie A. (Varner) Hesselschwardt. Holly is survived by her father John J. Hesselschwardt and her four siblings and their spouses: J. Peter (Annette) Hesselschwardt, Suzanne M. (Robert) Ankney, J. Lucius (Rachel) Hesselschwardt and J. Jay (Jennifer) Hesselschwardt. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and many godchildren.
Holly will be deeply missed. Although no longer physically with us, she will remain in the hearts and minds of the many whose lives have been touched and inspired by her relentless strength, love, and devotion.
Visitation will be held at Schaffer Funeral Home at 529 Jefferson Ave. in Defiance, Ohio on January 31st, from 3-8pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance, Ohio on February 1st, at 11am with burial to follow at St. Isidore's Catholic Church-Marysdale.
