Hillard “Edgar” McCloud

Hillard “Edgar” McCloud, age 54 of Defiance, passed away on Early Saturday morning, September 6, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on August 26, 1971 to the late Hillard McCloud and Virginia McCloud (Prowant). Edgar had a lifelong love for dogs, who were a constant source of companionship and joy throughout his life. A talented auto mechanic, he dedicated many years to his craft, taking pride in keeping engines running and helping others through his work. In his younger days, he found excitement in building demolition derby cars and competing in derbies all around.

Edgar is survived by his four children, all of Defiance, Ohio: Austin McCloud, Kolton McCloud, Elizabeth McCloud, and Miranda McCloud. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Mansfield of West Virginia and by his beloved German Shepherd, Radar, who remained faithfully by his side. In addition, he leaves behind extended family members and friends who will remember him with love and respect
