Helen Moser Obituary

Helen I. Moser, age 98 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Glenn Park of Defiance. 
  
She was born in Slagle, West Virginia on July 19, 1926 to Oscar and Nevada (Farris) Nally. She was married to Leroy Henry in 1945 until his death in 1983. She married Bernard Moser in 1993 who passed away in 2009. 
  
Helen was a former member of Cornerstone Church of God and attended Defiance Church of the Nazarene. She was also active in American Legion Auxiliary #117, past President and Secretary of A.A.R.P. #3535, and past Secretary of the Democratic Women's Club. She worked for Deatrick, Horman and Galliers Insurance Company from 1958 to 1973, and then for Dr. Paul Engel from 1974 until her retirement in 1992. Helen was a former Notary and when her children were younger she was an active Den Mother and Troop Leader with the Scouts. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, playing euchre, and reading. She was a very loving and attentive mother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 
  
Helen is survived by her children, Michael (Pat) Henry and Ketta Keller, all of Defiance, her stepchildren, Fred Moser of Florida, Maureen "Angie" Absten of New Mexico, Karen (Russell) Hill of Hamilton, OH, Laura (John) Gibson of Phoenix, AZ, Regina (Paul) Wargo of Milan, OH, and Lisa (Rodney) Gorby of Frankfort, KY. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jason Keller, Sean Henry, Jeremy Henry and Jessica Frederick, eight great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
  
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Flory and Amanda Sue Hilton, and brothers, Oscar, Clifford and Alton Nally.
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 17th at the funeral home, with Pastor Carol Retcher officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
