Helen L. (Hamman) Carroll

Helen L. Carroll, age 82 of Defiance, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, November 18, 2024 at The Laurels of Defiance.   
  
She was born on July 8, 1942 to the late Benjamin and Lucyle (Hendershot) Hamman in Defiance, Ohio. Helen was a 1960 graduate of Continental High School and was a member of Moose Lodge #2094. Helen worked for 22 years at Johns Manville in Defiance until her retirement. She enjoyed classic country music, bingo, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with her Tom's Donuts coffee group, and spoiling her dogs - Clint and Trixie. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her loving children, Darin Dunlap of Defiance, Dave (Amy) Schroeder of Oakwood, and Tricia (Tim) Sisco of Defiance. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her special friend, Peggy Foor. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rebecca Armbruster, and sister, Sue Burgei.
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Helen will be laid to rest at North Mount Zion Cemetery.
