Grayling L. "5-5" Hatfield, 63, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on July 23, 1957 to the late George and Verna (Duncan) Hatfield in Findlay, Ohio. Grayling earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Findlay College, and he minored in Psychology.
Grayling worked as a Supervisor for Whirlpool in Findlay, Ohio. He also had a Welding degree and Small Engine degree. He loved to ride his Harley, and tear apart Harley Davidson motorcycles and reassemble them. Grayling was always a very caring person and enjoyed helping others. He would take his truck on Saturdays and help people move, shovel driveways for those in need, and would go out of his way to help strangers and co-workers. Grayling will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends.
Grayling is survived by his siblings; Joan Murrey (Steve Rountree) of Oregon, OH, George (Kathy) Hatfield of California, Robin (Carl) Comfort of Georgia, Peggy (Chris) Adams of Napoleon, and Todd Hatfield of Ft. Wayne, IN. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, his life partner Sandra Tanner of Napoleon, and his best friend Richard Creque.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tracy Hatfield, his nephew, Shane Riebesehl, and friend Doris Davis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
