George C. Ray Jr.

George C. Ray Jr., age 71 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones.   
  
He was born on March 26, 1954 to the late George and Martha (Silvers) Ray in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On February 9, 1980 he married Janice Densmore, who survives. 

George worked for several years at General Motors until his retirement in 2006, and was a member of UAW Local #211 Retirees. He was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and University of Michigan Wolverines. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and traveling. George enjoyed life and he treasured his time spent with his family, especially time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
  
George is survived by his loving wife Janice Ray, his sons, Sean Ray, Corey (Annie) Ray and Matthew (Christina) Ray, two grandchildren, Aiden and Emma Ray, and his siblings, James Carter, Georgienne Westrick, Roger Ray, Patricia Ray, Barbara Kneisley, Kevin (Linda) Ray, Michael Ray, Tammy Buckley and Shirley Milliman. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Carter, and sister, Judy Carter.
  
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
