Gary W. Bruce

Gary W. Bruce, 64, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on April 27, 1954 in Norton, Virginia to James G. and Peggy (Brickey) Bruce. A 1972 graduate of Ayersville High School, he had been an auto body repairman for many years. Prior to his illness, he had been employed by Moose Lodge #2094, where he was also a long-time member. On November 6, 1993 he married Brenda (Monteith) Fisher, who survives.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, do-it-yourself projects, working on cars, and making sure his lawn was the nicest one on the street.
  
Surviving in addition to his wife, Brenda, is one son, Joshua Bruce of Defiance, stepson, Steve (Gina) Singleton of West Bath, ME, two daughters, Jerilyn (Kenneth) Relue and Aleesha Bruce, both of Defiance, grandchildren, Octaven (Ron) Craig and Heaven Bruce-Eaton, all of Antwerp, Jordan Leitner of Defiance, and Jackson and Adam Singelton, one brother, Ed Bruce of Williams Center, and his mother, Peggy of Defiance, as well as his extended family. 

He was preceded in death by his father, and a niece, Lisa Marie Bruce.
  
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A memorial service will be held at the Defiance Moose Lodge at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
