Francis "Ed" Pessefall

Francis Edward "Ed" Pessefall, age 85 of Sherwood, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 3, 2024.  
  
He was born on August 24, 1938 to the late Francis and Opal (Thrasher) Pessefall in Oakwood, Ohio. On January 24, 1959 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Coressel, who resides in Sherwood. 
  
Ed was a life member of Defiance Eagles #372. He worked for 25 years at General Motors until his retirement in 1994. He knew the importance of hard work and had a true passion for working on his farm. Ed enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and classic cars. He loved spending time with his family, and his most cherished moments were spent with his grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. 
  
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy Pessefall of Sherwood, and his sons, Shawn Pessefall and Craig (Robin) Pessefall, all of Sherwood, OH. He also leaves behind his grandson, Ryan Pessefall of Avilla, IN, granddaughters, Lacy Jackson of Hamilton, IN and Shania Arnett of Avilla, IN, six great-grandchildren, his sisters, Ginger Warner of Defiance and Betty Goler of Ft. Wayne, IN, and his brothers, Danny (Carol) Pessefall of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jim (Susie) Pessefall of Oakwood, and Mike (Kim) Pessefall of Defiance. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Doug Pessefall, brothers, Leo Pessefall, Chuck Pessefall and Steve Pessefall, and sister, Martha Begley.
  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Fr. John Stites officiating. Ed will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.
