Frances 'Frannie" Ague, age 84 of Sherwood, Ohio, passed into her Savior's arms on Sunday, April 5, 2026 (Easter Sunday). She was born on September 25, 1941 to Earl Clyde Sutter Sr. and Charlotte Isabel (Stoner) Sutter in New Castle, PA. On September 16, 1960 she married John L. Ague, who preceded her in death in 2011.
Frances enjoyed playing computer games, puzzle books, and board/card games. She was a cake decorator for many years and even made her daughter's wedding cake. Her favorite music was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and she enjoyed attending the Senior Center of Defiance monthly evening meals.
She worked for the United Telephone Company in Northeast and Northwest Ohio for many years until her retirement. Frances and her husband John enjoyed camping in their motor home at Harrison Lake, Independence Dam, and traveling through the southern states. They also raised her two sisters, two brothers, and a daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Larry) Demarest of Defiance, her sister Dorothy Doub of Paulding, sister-in-law April Peggy Olson of Bryan, and nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Charles, Earl Jr., and David, and sister Margaret "Peggy" Scheele.
Pastor Chuck Schmunk will be presiding over the services to be held at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and one hour before the services to be held on Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 am. Frances will be laid to rest in Sherwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the Defiance Senior Center, the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
