Flossie L. Chafin

Flossie (Elliott) Chafin was born July 12, 1931 in McCarr, KY. The daughter of Wilburn and Maggie (Williams) Elliott, Flossie was one of five children. One brother and sister died in infancy. After her father died in 1939, the family moved to Matewan, WV, where the children attended Matewan Schools. Preceding Flossie in death were her parents and two brothers, Bill and Leonard Elliott.

In April 1947, Flossie and John W. Chafin were married. They were the parents of four children: John D. (Cheryl), Ney, OH; Les (Kris), Huntington, IN; and Michael (Kathy), Girard, IL.  Her loving husband went to be with the Lord in June, 2020. Their daughter Judy and Judy’s husband Paul Nusbaum also preceded her in death.

Ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren gave Flossie great pride and she loved them fiercely.

John and Flossie Chafin touched many lives over the years, and they were blessed with many wonderful friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Assembly of God Church in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Rev. Randy Wilson and Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Burial will take place at Sherwood Cemetery.
