Evelyn L. Baker, age 92 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio.
She was born on June 25, 1932 to the late Donald and Jennie (Fitzwater) March in Defiance, Ohio. On November 25, 1976 she married Philip J. Baker who preceded her in death on July 30, 2005.
Evelyn was a faithful and active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering with the Altar & Rosary Society and Noodle Club. She was also a member of VFW #3360 Auxiliary. She worked at G.C. Murphy Store in Defiance until it closed. She helped with laundry and house keeping at several nursing homes in the area. Evelyn loved to travel when she was younger. She enjoyed playing cards, crafting and plastic canvas sewing, and adult coloring. She had a cheerful disposition and always had a beautiful smile to share. She loved spending time with her family.
Evelyn is survived by her stepson, Scott R. Baker of Defiance, two step-granddaughters, her sister, Helen Frusher of Findlay, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Vivian (Gerald) Ditto, Ruth (William) Cross, Donald (Christine) March, Robert March, Paul (Betty) March, Mary (Elmer) Hahn, Gladys (Ronnie) Reinhart, Joyce Schilt, Gerald "Bud" (Ida) March, and Richard (Linda) March, and brother-in-law, Vernon Frusher.
Honoring Evelyn's wishes there will be no services. Helen will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
