Ethel Mae Miller, age 91 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Monday morning, February 14, 2022 at her home in Defiance, Ohio.
She was born on August 29, 1930 to James and Judy Layne in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. On April 1, 1946 she married William H. Miller, who preceded her in death in 2017. Ethel worked for several years at Diehl's until her retirement. She enjoyed camping, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Ethel will be sadly missed by her daughters; Janet (Lawson) Willis of Deltona, FL, Sandra (Troy) Hall of Defiance, and Judy Bowling of Defiance, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Virginia (Worth) McGuire of Richmond, KY.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David H. Miller, her sisters, Nell Beagle, Josephine Kearns and Juanita Garner, her brothers, Harold and Jimmy Layne, her granddaughter, Kim Hall, and son-in-law, Gary Bowling.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street). A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Lonnie Musgrave officiating. Due to CDC guidelines if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
