Erik David Birr

Erik D. Birr, age 48 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.  
  
He was born on September 22, 1974 to the late Ronald and Grace (Luxford) Birr in Napoleon, Ohio. On May 22, 1998 he married Mickie (Kroeckel) Birr, who survives. 
  
Erik was the owner and operator of E.B. Electric Company. He liked muscle cars, Metallica, Mt. Dew, tanning and going shirtless. He enjoyed camping at Sunny's Campground in Wauseon, Ohio. Erik was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He treasured his time spent with his family.
  
Erik will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 24 years, Mickie Birr of Defiance, his sons; Justin (Chelsea) Birr of Sherwood, OH, Joshua and Jesse Birr, both of Defiance, his daughter, Alisha Birr of Defiance, and his grandchildren; Owen, Aria, Emma, Jaelynn, Deshawn "Lugnut", Annabelle, and Josiah. He also leaves behind four brothers; Cliff Baden of South Carolina, Ron Birr Jr. of Georgia, Rick Birr of Arizona, and Steve Birr of Napoleon, OH, and two sisters; Jackie Birr of Bryan, OH, and Kathy Dickman of Napoleon, OH. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Patricia Birr, his daughter, Angela Birr, and sister, Erika Baden-Hall.
  
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Ney Cemetery.
