Eldora I. (Gibler) Sines

Eldora Irene Sines, age 94, passed away peacefully in her home in Defiance, surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 13, 2018.   
  
She was born on February 28, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Estella Gibler. On November 2, 1941 she married Sidney Sines, who passed away on January 14, 2012. They had been married for 70 years.
  
Eldora was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis A. Gibler and George Gibler Jr., and a sister Mildred Dietrich.
  
Her family: Eldora is survived by four daughters, Judy (Dave) Meyer of Sherwood, Nancy (Larry) Mix of Indiana, Jacci (Steve) Moss of Defiance, and Patti Brahe of Indiana. She had 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Her Life: Eldora was a good lady, wife and mother. She was very proud to have worked for the City of Defiance as the first policewoman. She started on the force October 1, 1969 and retired August 8, 1975.

Eldora and family enjoyed camping, tobogganing, picnics, ice skating, bottle hunting / collecting. She and Sidney enjoyed living many years along the lake at Christi Meadows. They both enjoyed their Bear Shoppe, creating thousands of wooden bears. She was a long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Defiance. Eldora so enjoyed having her cat Shamballie with her in her home.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, with Megan Fischer officiating.
  
Prior to her passing, Eldora asked that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made to Friends of Felines Rescue Center, 14597 Power Dam Road in Defiance.
