Edburt K. "Ed" Porter

Edburt K. "Ed" Porter, age 87 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday morning, May 23, 2025 at The Laurels of Defiance.   
  
He was born on April 5, 1938 to the late Roland and Ruth (King) Porter in Defiance, Ohio. Ed was a 1956 graduate of Defiance High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. On February 28, 1957 he married Carol "Sue" McGue, who survives. 
  
Ed was a member of Defiance Christian Church. He owned and operated Ed's Gulf Station and was an auto mechanic for Nelson & Bob's for several years. Most recently he enjoyed driving patients to their appointments for the Defiance Senior Center. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
  
Ed is survived by his loving wife Sue Porter of Defiance, and his children; Teresa (James Kirk) Roughton of Oakwood, OH, Charles Porter of Defiance, and Joseph (Lida) Porter of Whitehouse, OH. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Pauline Staley of Arizona. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Kenny Porter.
  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Mike Hasselbring officiating. Ed will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with graveside military honors.
