Earl Douglas Rose, age 67 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on June 20, 1958 to the late Earl and Virginia (Johnson) Rose. On May 23, 1979 he married Cathy Mansfield, who preceded him in death on March 18, 2021.
Earl worked as the Head Furnace Chief at Johns Manville for over 40 years until his retirement in December, 2023. He enjoyed hunting, watching football, and keeping up with current events. Earl was dedicated to his children and grandchildren and loved caring for them at all times. Any time spent with Earl was guaranteed to be a time of laughter and jokes. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
Earl is survived by his loving children, Kristy (Brian) McCafferty of Defiance, Jamie (Paul) Armstrong of South Carolina, and Shane (Brittany Parcher) Rose of Wauseon, OH. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, and many siblings, including Michael (Tonya) Rose of Alabama, Joey (Carol) Rose, Tammy (Allen) Springborn, Roger (Mariah) Rose, and Iris (Dan) Church, all of Michigan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Rose, son, Zachary Rose, daughter, Mindy Rose, and his brother, Wayne Rose.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
