Douglas M. Hagerman

Douglas M. Hagerman, 76, of Defiance, passed away on  Monday evening, June 11, 2018 at his residence.   
  
He was born on March 11, 1942 to Carl and Florence (Asbury) Hagerman in  Jolo, West Virginia. On January 1, 1965 he married Joyce (Collins) Hagerman, who preceded him in death on January 20,1998. 

Doug worked as a coal miner in West Virginia and Kentucky before moving to Ohio. He worked for over 40 years at General Motors in Defiance, retiring in 1998. Doug loved cutting wood and restoring wood furniture. His leisure time was spent with his family, fishing, working on cars, or drinking beer. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
  
Douglas is survived by his son, D. Dwayne (Renee) Hagerman, Sr. of Defiance, daughters, Rita (Mike) Apt of South Carolina, and Brenda Hagerman of Defiance, five grandchildren; Gunner Hellard, Alexandria Hagerman, Douglas Dwayne Hagerman, Jr., Jessica Hellard, and Noah Hagerman, two great-grandchildren; Hunter Keber and Solomon Hellard, sisters, Ann "Bertha" Jones of Kernersville, NC, Madge (Mack) Justus of Hurley, VA, Joyce "Thea" Barfield of California, and Phyllis (Dan) Siler of Dayton, OH, brothers, Roger (Betty) Hagerman of Damascus, VA, and Russell (Carolyn) Hagerman of Paulding. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hagerman, and brother, Emory Hagerman.
  
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Todd Murray officiating. Burial will follow the service at Ayersville Cemetery.
