Douglas Lee Eitniear

Douglas L. Eitniear, age 65 of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Wauseon, Ohio.  
  
He was born on April 13, 1956 to the late Willard and Marilyn (Busch) Eitniear in Defiance County, Ohio. On August 22, 2009 he married Amy (Horn) Wildermuth Eitniear, who survives. 

Doug loved being self employed as a mechanic. He worked on heavy equipment and built race car engines. He loved every aspect of racing, including late model cars, drag racing, and go-cart racing. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. 
  
Doug will be sadly missed by his loving wife of twelve years, Amy Wildermuth Eitniear of Sherwood, OH, his sons, Randy (Jennifer) Eitniear of Defiance and Bradley (Wendy) Eitniear of Wauseon, OH, his daughter Christina "Sis" (Mark) Eitniear of Defiance, his stepsons, Nick (Kate) Wildermuth of Cincinnati, OH and Joel (Heather) Wildermuth of Sherwood, OH. He also leaves four grandchildren, Kaylee Eitniear, Madison Eitniear, Harley Lindeman and Milly Eitniear, two great-grandsons, Elijah and Sebastian Combs, his brothers, Larry (Theresa) Eitniear and Gary Eitniear, all of Defiance, and his sister, Sue Renn of Defiance. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents. 
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022  at 10:00 am the funeral home, with Tonya Kelly officiating. Due to CDC guidelines if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.

The family wishes to encourage guests to wear racing attire and dress casually for Doug's funeral service.
