Dorothy May (Koller) Berner

Dorothy May Berner, age 82 of Defiance, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Laurels of Defiance.

She was born in Lockport, New York on February 8, 1942 to John and Beatrice (Randolph) Koller. On February 14, 1966, she married Roger Berner, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2020.

Dorothy was a homebody. She loved to watch movies, and enjoyed celebrating Halloween with her family. Dorothy always went all out for Halloween! She enjoyed cheering on the Buffalo Bills, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and Michigan Wolverines for her one son. She was crazy about Elvis, and she absolutely loved her Mango Dodge Challenger. Her kids and grandkids are what she lived for.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ted Berner and Chuck (Denise) Berner of Defiance; daughter, Elizabeth (Jerry) Rauber of Defiance; grandchildren Tiffany (Brett) Brandi, Teddy Berner, Gavin Berner, Jacob Berner, Owen Berner, Eli Berner, Sarah Salyers, Andrew Salyers and Zakary Rauber; great grandchildren, Kellen, Nathan, Emmett, and Olivia Brandi; and her sister, Joan “Vicki” Sherlock.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; her son, Eric Witsoe; and brothers, Richard and John “Sunny” Koller.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
