Doris I. (Laney) Clemens

Doris I. Clemens, age 86 of Continental, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024.  

She was born on November 15, 1938 to the late James and Olive (Swann) Laney in Antwerp, Ohio. On March 13, 1967 she married George D. Clemens who survives. 

Doris was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who treasured her time spent with her family. She enjoyed cooking for everyone on Sundays, reading, crosswords, bird watching, and catching all her favorite TV shows and soap operas, especially Big Brother, Survivor and Judge Judy. Doris loved her time spent taking care of her grandkids. 

Doris is survived by her loving husband of 57 years George Clemens of Continental, and her children, Beth A. (Ryan) Ordway of Continental, Georgette (Rodger Niese) Mekus of Leipsic, Katherine (Rodney) Lawson of Putnam Co., Amy (Brian) Scholl of Florida, and Brock Clemens of Defiance. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her brother, Larry Laney, and her sister, Jean Robinson.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, three grandsons, Brice Clemens, Tyler Smith and Trent Smith, six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Doris will be laid to rest at Monroe Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Wounded Warriors.
