Donelda L. "Pinky" Roggenkemper, age 95 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, October 28, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on November 8, 1928 to the late Louis and Viola (Garber) Schafer in Unionville, Michigan. She was married to James W. French who preceded her in death on August 7, 1963. On June 12, 1971 she married Joseph Roggenkemper, who died on November 19, 1986. Donelda worked for 30 years as a Teacher's Aide at Slocum School. She enjoyed reading, word search books, and romance novels. Her greatest love was her family. Donelda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by many.
Donelda is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Glen) Knight of Washington, Cheryl Hagood of Lubbock, TX, Denise (Robert) Meine and Yvonne (Greg) Dale, all of Defiance. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Susie Layman of Lindale, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James French and Joseph Roggenkemper, brothers Vincent, Ronald and Donald Schafer, and her sisters, Glenola Blanton and Alverna Eis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Restoration Tabernacle in Defiance, with Rev. Janet Strickland officiating.
